Renovation & Expansion Update

If you’ve visited the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House in person, you’ve likely noticed that our physical space could use quite a bit of TLC. Over the past couple of years, uncertainties about the future of our space have been a source of serious concern to all of us at the DTES NH. There are still disruptions and other challenges on the horizon; however, we’re pleased and relieved to report that the overall outlook is positive … 

• We’ve succeeded in raising most of the money needed for structural, mechanical, and material upgrades (however, donations for this project are still most welcome).

• An opportunity to occupy additional space in our current building will allow us to double our square footage .

At this point, we anticipate that the renovated and expanded Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House will open its doors (symbolically, anyway, for we don’t plan to close our doors in the interim!) by around March 2026.

We’re extremely grateful for the generosity of the many individuals and organizations who’ve contributed to our fundraising efforts so far. If you’re able to contribute (or re-contribute), thank you!
