Happy Holiday – Holiday Hours

Thank you to all who purchased our holiday gift basket.  Our sales help support the great work done at the Neighbourhood House.  We wish you all a very happy New Year.

Family drop in is open Thursday December 22 until 6:30 and then will re-open on January 3.  A reminder for families who registered,  this week is the time to pick up movie gift cards – for cineplex trips after Christmas.

After Christmas Day the house will be open on Wednesday December 28  and then closed until January 2.   The community drop in breakfast and lunch is available to all form 10-2 on Wednesdays regardless of holidays.  Families from the family drop in are welcome to come for our lunch.

Our mid-winter feast is scheduled for January 14th.  We start the day with a drum making workshop – please per-register as there is limited room.  A drumming circle and art project is offered prior to the dinner at 5:00 pm.  The full schedule will be posted January 5th.

SHARING THEATRE, SHARING CULTURE
Thursday November 3, 7pm – 9pm
DTES Neighborhood House, 573 E. Hastings
Free

Join us for a conversation of how theatre contributes to the fabric of Vancouver’s Chinatown, where food and language intersect on Coast Salish territory. The evening begins with readings in English and Cantonese from Jovanni Sy’s play A Taste of Empire/食盡天下, translated into Cantonese by Derek Chan. Guests are Derek Chan, Bob Sung, Jovanni Sy and Andrea Yu. Hosted by Kathleen Flaherty. There will be dumplings! Presented in partnership with Playwrights Theatre Centre, Hua Foundation and DTES Neighbourhood House.
